This years Great Tasting in the Wine Society 18% in Malmö, Sweden took place on the 21st of May. With respect to the 35 years of age, it was time for the Vintage Ports from 1991. We have classified the 1991 Vintage as Excellent, and the tasting confirmed how good the vintage actually is. Most wines are drinking perfectly right now.
Given that 1991 is a so-called ‘split decision’ with 1992, it was also interesting to see if the Single Quinta and secod label wines could match the houses that actually declared in 1991. The result shows that for instance the Single Quintas from Taylor and also Fonseca Guimaraens are all in the top 10 best wines from 1991, and Fonseca Guimaraens came out as the over all winner. Niepoort and Dow shared 2nd place, but were by many judged as better.
