C. Da Silva (Vinhos) SA

Founded 1862
Owner La Martiniquaise
Vintage Port Brands Dalva, Presidential, C da Silva, Players, Don Pablo, Quinta dos Avidagos

This company was founded in 1862 under the name Correa Ribeiro e Filhos. The actual name of C. da Silva exists already since several decades, although their premises, as well as the trade with wines, are dated back the middle of the last century. It was founded by Clemente da Silva as a familiar Company and prior to 1980 it was family owned. He received the company through marriage. It sources grapes from over seven hundred growers.

They created the brand DALVA, whose origin lies in the founder´s surname DA SILVA, i.e. Dalva.

The Company has been family owned till 1980, but after Clemente da Silva´s death, the family has decided to sell the Company, that has been bought by the spanish group Nueva Rumasa. In 2007 it has been bought again by Gran Cruz Porto, making part of La Martiniquaise.
