Quinta do Sagrado
Quinta do Sagrado
Owner | Cálem family |
---|
In 1988 Cálem started to make a Single Quinta Vintage Port from Sagrado. Sogevinus bought the port wine house A. A. Cálem & Filho, Lda in 2003, the Cálem family retained the vineyards e.g. Quinta da Foz and Quinta do Sagrado. In 2011 Quinta da Foz was sold to Isabel dos Santos, eldest daughter of Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos, but the Cálem family retained Quinta do Sagrado.
Nowadays, Quinta do Sagrado constitutes the main vineyard in the PV partnership. PV was born in 2004 with 3 partners: José Maria Cálem, Jorge Serôdio Borges and Cristiano van Zeller. Since the beginning it benefited from the overall experience of the three, which gather over fifteen generations linked to the Douro and to Wines. The main objective was to create a top DOC Red Wine from the Douro. Since 2008 PV produces port wine and since 2011 also Vintage Port.
