The well known Sociedade dos Vinhos do Porto Constantino, was founded in 1877 by Constantino de Almeida who acquired the two important vineyards, Quinta do Crasto bought in 1910 and Quinta da Sobreira. He died in 1922 and was succeeded by his three sons. This House was associated with the old, well-known prestigious Port Wine company, the famous Hunt Roope & Co. Ltd whose origins go back to 1650. Ferreira bought Hunt Roope in 1956, and in 1958 Constantinos, and merged the two to the port House Hunt Constantiono Vinhos SA which today is owned by Sogrape since 1988.
