The Madeira family has been practicing farming and viticulture in the Douro Valley since the 19th century. The company changed name in 2013 from Vinhos do Douro Superior to Rui Roboredo Madeira. Energetic Rui Roboredo Madeira has been the winemaker since 1999, farming several vineyards at the extremely dry upper end of the Douro. Since 2019 they have a new winery in S. João da Pesqueira
