Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora

Owner Amorin Group

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is situated in the sub-region Cima Corgo and recognized as one of the most beautiful properties in the Douro region and included in the first demarcation by Marquis of Pombal in 1756. Today the Quinta is mentioned in the Douro application for the Unesco's World Heritage. A small and beautiful 17th century chapel, on the Douro banks, bears the image of Nossa Senhora do Carmo (Our Lady of Carmo), the patron saint of this property. Since 1764 Port Wine is created at Quinta Nova. The quinta was owned by the Carvalho family since those days until 1987 when it was sold to Real Compania Velha and 1991 Burmester bought it. Between 1987 and 1991 the house Hooper’s vintage was made from Quinta Nova. 1999 it was purchased by Amorin group.
