Quinta de Ervamoira
Quinta de Ervamoira - Ramos Pintos
Owner | Champagne Louis Roederer Group |
---|
This quinta belongs to Ramos Pintos.
Quinta de Ervamoira was bought just after the revolution in 1974 because the owners have not been interested at all in selling before that happened.
Quinta de Ervamoira was named Quinta de Santa Maria but this name was already used by Cockburn and it was not possible to sell it under that name. Suzanne Chantel, a French historical novelist, published a novel called Ervamoira – the name of a small white flower indigenous to the Douro. It was the purely fictional saga of a family of port producers whose quinta was called Ervamoira. The description of this was as Ervamoira’s situation and contact was made with Suzanne Chantel who gives permission to use the name and she even come to the ceremony and ´christening´ the quinta.
