12 years after Manuel Barros created his Port House, he asked a well-regarded Port blender Alcino Vieira de Souza to join and start a subsidiary with him and the house was created. When Alcino Vieira de Souza died in 1941 Barros took over the company. However, Sogevinus purchased Barros in 2006 and then the name was not in use any more, so the family has now re-opened this family owned house and started bottling port wine in 2011 (the 2009 Vintage Port was bottled this year).
