Miguels
Messias Miguel Valente, the owner of this house is related on his mother´s side to Messias Baptista who founded the house of Messias in 1926. After working several years at Messias he decided to create his own brand, Miguels in 2015.
Currently all Vintage Ports are sourced from the Messias family stock.
This Great Tasting was a private one with 14 participants. It was semi blind i.e. we knew which years who participated in each of the two flights but not what we had in the glass.
The tasting was conducted over two flights.
First flight was Miguels Vintage Port 1983, 1984, 1989, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2009 and 2011.
Second flight was Miguels Vintage Port 1960, 1966, 1967, 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980 and 1982<

| Taste | Medium body. Mature and peaking. Very elegant and balanced. Still some old acidity but delicious and tasty with mature plums and spiciness. Will probably not be better but today lovely and enjoyable with a nice finish. |

| Taste | Medium body. Mature, peaking an on top. Balanced and quite elegant. Will not be better. Have some old acidity which is quite good and acceptable. Yellow plums and prunes in taste. The finish is quite sweet and rather attractive. Very easy to like so drink up. |

| Taste | Medium body. Mature and peaking but maybe still some soft tannin. Balanced and rather complex. Easy to drink and like. Fudge and candy in taste and rather sweet with a nice finish. Some of us like it. |

| Taste | Medium body. Loaded with tannin and fruit but still balanced. Have an excellent future and is very promising. Complex and easy to like but still quite sweet. Mulberry and blackberry in taste. Lovely and quite long finish. An impressive port which will be interesting to follow. |
